Crop failure drives farmer to commit suicide

Hubli, Dec 26 (UNI) Unable to bear mounting debts following crop loss due to failure of timely rains, a farmer allegedly committed suicide at Kundroli village in Gadag district of Karnataka.

Police said Noorappa Lamani took the extreme step by hanging at his house. He had raised farm loans from private financial institutions and a public sector bank for cultivation in his about three acres of land.

The deceased farmer is survived by his wife and five children.
