Was Colonisation Globalisation ? Philosphers
New Delhi, Dec 24 (UNI) Was it globalisation in the 18th century when such colonisers as Britain and France were busy melting boundaries and amalgamating cultures ? Or is globalisation yet to come even in 2006 ? Queries covering such a wide range and beyond were raised and sought to be answered by more than 850 philosophers from India and abroad at the first ever interim World Philosophy Congress of the International Federation of Societies of Philosophy at Delhi University.
The three-day interim WPC preceding the quientennial Congress scheduled in Seoul, South Korea in August 2008 began along with the five-day 81st session of the Indian Philosophical Congress this week.
The last WPC was held at Istanbul, Turkey in August 2003.
Participants scoured globalisation, justice and other troubles of the universe. The results of the inquiries have been published in two volumes of Abstracts.
The IPC presided over by Prof Suresh Chandra elected former Commerce Minister D P Chattopadhyaya Chairman, Prof Kireet Joshi and Prof Bhuvan Chandel Vice Chairmen and Prof S K Singh General Secretary.
Participants decided to hold the 82nd IPC at SV University, Tirupati next year and appointed Prof Bijayanand Kar General President for the session.
