BRO engineer untraced for third day
Mangaldai, Dec 24 (UNI) Border Roads Organisation (BRO) junior engineer, kidnapped by suspected National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) militants from Udalguri district of Asom, remained untraced for the third day today.
Udalguri Deputy Commissioner D Basumatary informed that no clue had been found on the whereabouts of the abducted person.
The Army and the CRPF were helping in the rescue operation, he added.
N Ganesan, hailing from Kerala, was kidnapped on Friday evening from Gitibam area under the Paneri Police Station when he was returning on a motorcycle after inspecting a bridge along the Udalguri-Tamulpur Road under construction.
The NDFB is suspected to be behind the kidnapping. However, NDFB area commander N Basumatary denied involvement of the outfit in the abduction.
Meanwhile, the Bodoland People's Progressive Party (BPPF) (Hagrama), partners in the alliance ruling at Dispur, and the All Bodo Students' Union have demanded early and safe release of Ganesan and condemned the kidnapping.
