Bangla AC to request EC to defer nominations

Dhaka, Dec 24: The Council of Advisors after a lengthy meeting last night have decided to request the Election Commission to extend the date of filing of nominations by two days to December 26.

''The Council will make the request tomorrow at the behest of the AL-led grand alliance," Information Advisor Mahbubul Alam told reporters after the meeting at Bangabhaban after midnight.

Asked if the grand alliance would go to polls after this change in the election schedule, he said, ''Some leaders of the alliance have told us that they would ask their leaders to rush back to their constituencies if this is done.''
