Putin, Bush discuss UN resolution on Iran: Kremlin
Moscow, Dec 23: Russia's Vladimir Putin and US President George W Bush today discussed an impending UN Security Council vote on a resolution imposing sanctions on Iran for its nuclear activities, the Kremlin said.
A spokesman gave no further details on the telephone conversation between the two leaders.
Russia, which is helping build a nuclear power plant in Iran, has yet to give final approval to punitive measures.
Interfax news agency, quoting Kremlin press secretary Alexei Gromov, said the two leaders ''discussed various issues of Russian-American interaction in international affairs, including the final stage of work in the UN Security Council on Iran's nuclear programme''.
Russia is mainly concerned about a provision calling for a freeze on financial assets abroad of 11 individuals and 12 organisations to prevent them from buying dangerous materials.
Russia's ambassador to the U.N. said Moscow wanted to ensure that legitimate activities could proceed unhindered.
