Pakistan, India agree to survey disputed estuary
Islamabad, Dec 23: Pakistan and India have agreed to conduct a joint survey of a disputed estuary on their border next month, Pakistan's Ministry of Defence said today.
The agreement between the old rivals on the survey of the Sir Creek came after two days of talks between their military officials in the Pakistani city of Rawalpindi.
''It was agreed to commence the joint survey from 15th January 2007,'' the ministry said in a statement.
The dispute over the 100-km long estuary has hampered exploration for oil and gas and led to the detention of hundreds of fishermen from the two countries.
