Jaspal Rana felicitated at BJP's National Council

Lucknow, Dec 23: Ace shooter Jaspal Singh Rana was today felicitated at the ongoing BJP National Council meeting here by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Rana was felicitated for his feat at the just-concluded Doha Asian Games where he won three gold and a silver.

Honouring him, Lucknow MP and former PM Vajpayee said the ''Rana has made a niche for himself and the country at a young age.'' Former deputy prime minister and BJP leader L K Advani and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and BJP national president Rajnath Singh were present on the occasion, besides other BJP leaders.

Incidentally, Rana's sister Sushma Singh is the daughter-in-law of Mr Rajnath Singh. A five-time National champion, Sushma was also present at the venue. But she did not turn up at the stage when her name was called. There were plans to honour her as well.

After the felicitation, Rana said he was a fan of Mr Vajpayee's ideology and was attached with the BJP since 1997. ''I can connect to what the BJP says on several issues,'' he added.
