Former sarpanch gunned down
Morena, MP, Dec 23 (UNI) A former sarpanch was today gunned down by four assailants when he visited a relative in the district hospital near Kotwali area in this district, police said.
Former sarpanch Banwari Chaudhary (50), a resident of Hadvasi village, had come along with Baijnath to meet his relative when he was shot dead by fourmotorcycle-bornepersons.
On receiving information, police rushed to the spot cordoned off the area. Two persons Rishikesh and Ramkumar were arrested, while Harendra and Shrikishan managed to escape.
A 12-bore licensed gun and a motorcycle were seized from the spot.
Banwari had killed two people in 2002. A court had sentenced him to life imprisonment and he was presently out on bail, police said.
