Zmanda opens strategic development center in Pune

Pune, Dec 21 (UNI) Zmanda Inc., one of the leaders in open source backup and recovery software, headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, today inaugurated it's development center in Pune, and said that their this office will be of strategic value for them, as they can now harness and leverage world-class software development talent available here.

''Pune, with its focus on open source, outstanding technology infrastructure, thriving storage software ecosystem and talented workforce, is an ideal place for Zmanda to set up its product development organization,'' CEO of Zmanda, Mr Chander Kant said.

''The majority of our investment in engineering resources will be done in Pune, and we expect the Pune center to become Zmanda's development backbone,'' he added.

On the occasion, Zmanda also announced the release of it's Zmanda Recovery Manager (ZRM) for MySQL product.

''Pune is already known for being an important place for open source-related activities,'' secretary of the renowned Pune Linux Users Group Ms Sudhanwa Jogalekar said.

''I am very happy to see more and more open source companies coming to Pune. With enterprise-class products from Zmanda rolling out of Pune, the open source community and businesses will benefit to a great extent,'' she opined.

The Zmanda development center in Pune has kick-started with 12 employees, and is expected to grow to about 60 employees within the next two years. Zmanda is aggressively hiring talent in Pune, and the open positions are listed on the company's website, officials said.

Zmanda was founded in 2005, to bring the benefits of open source software to the critical operational task of data backup. The company's flagship offering is the Zmanda Network, a suite of software and services for enterprise data backup and recovery.

Besides, Zmanda Network also offers a network backup solution based on Amanda, the world's most popular open source data backup and recovery technology, as well as an application-specific backup solution, ZRM for MySQL, officials added.
