Three get death sentence for murdering child

Hoshiarpur, Dec 21 (UNI) A local court today pronounced death sentence on three people for murdering a child.

District and Sessions Judge G K Rai, who had found the trio guilty yesterday, pronounced the death sentence earlier in the day to Vikramjit Singh, alias Vicky Walia, his accomplices, Jasbir Singh and his wife Sonia under section 302 and 364 A of the IPC for kidnapping and murdering Abhi Verma alias Harry.

It may be recalled that Abhi Verma, a student of 9th standard, son of a local jeweller Ravi Verma was kidnapped while he was going to the school on December 14 last year. The abductors on telephone demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh from Mr Verma for releasing his son.

Later, police arrested the trio and on interrogation, the dead body of Abhi Verma was found in the fields of village Alawalpur under Adampur police station of Jalandhar district.
