Terrorism hampering development of talented children: Sinha

Jammu, Dec 21 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir governor Lt-general (retd) S K Sinha today expressed lyregret over ''senseless violence in the state.'' Addressing budding scientists at the inaugural session of the programme for leadership in science organised by the Regional Research Laboratory here, the Governor expressed anguish at the ''damage'' being done to the development of talented children of the state.

He said the youth in rest of the country had more opportunities to show their talent but here in Jammu and Kashmir, we are mired in violence and senseless terrorism.

The violence unleashed by elements inimical to peace and progress has put obstacles in development of youngsters here, he said.

He said in the era of globalisation, when we are moving towards becoming a global village, some people with myopic vision are encouraging disintegration and raising walls of hatred and backwardness.

The governor envisions a great future for the youth of the state, who he believes can excel in every field given the appropriate atmosphere to grow.

''We are living in an age of knowledge, where I would like to see the youth of the state prosper and progress and be counted amongst the most talented in the world,'' he said.

Quoting a Sanskrit shaloka 'vasudeva kutumb', he urged the youth to help in breaking the walls of hatred and violence for making this world a better place.
