Sugar prices rise on better buying support
Mumbai, Dec 21 (UNI) Sugar prices rose today on better buying support, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchants' Association said.
Sugar in small and medium grades went up by Rs two and Rs three per quintal respectively on account of good demand.
Sugar in ex-mill small grade hiked by Rs 10 per quintal due to lesser stock supply, while medium grade drifted lower by Rs 48 per quintal on lack of fresh demand.
Following were the spot wholesale rates per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,582/1,620, Medium grade: Rs 1,630/1,687 Ex-mill: Small grade: Rs 1,560/1,585 Medium grade: Rs 1,562/1,670.
