Sena meeting for BMC polls deferred
Mumbai, Dec 21 (UNI) The Shiv Sena today deferred a meeting of its office-bearers and elected representatives, which was to be held tomorrow to discuss preparations for the crucial February one Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.
Party Chief Bal Thackeray was to address office-bearers and elected representatives from Mumbai at Rang Sharda auditorium in North West Mumbai at 1800 hrs tomorrow.
No reason has been given for the postponement of the meeting.
A party statement here said fresh dates for the meeting would be announced soon.
Shiv Sena, which has been ruling the Corporation for nearly 20 years, faces a tough challenge to retain its bastion since in the last one year, it has seen firebrand leader Narayan Rane and Mr Raj Thackeray, the sena partriach's nephew, bidding goodbye to the party, criticising working President Uddhav Thackeray's style of functioning.
Eighty-year-old Bal Thackeray has been keeping a low profile for the past year due to ill health.
