NCP's Vikram Kale has won from M'wada Teachers constitutency

Aurangabad, (Mah), Dec 21 (UNI) The Nationalist Congress Party's (NCP) candidate, Mr Vikram Kale, has won the elections to the Legislative Council from the Marathwada Division Teachers' Constituency.

As per the election results announced here late last night, after the fifth round of the second preference votes counting, Kale polled 19,022 votes while his nearest rival and Marathwada Shikshak Sangh candidate, P S Ghadge polled 17,453 votes.

The counting of votes was held at the collectorate.

At the end of the first preference vote counting, Kale polled 15,414 votes while Ghadge could secure support of 14,231 teachers.

First preference votes were counted in four rounds. In the first round itself, Kale got a lead of 500 votes and he continued to consolidate it.

The candidate sponsored by the Bharatiya Janta Party, Mr Eknath Jadhav polled 7,444 votes while another candidate Mr Vasant Patil got 2,489 votes.

Shiv Sena candidate, Mr Padmakar Ingle, who was in the fray for the third time on the saffron party ticket, could muster only 1,796 votes.
