MP girl sings for 131 hours!
Khandwa, MP, Dec 21 (UNI) Endeavouring to create singing record, Sania Sayyed gave her vocal chords a marathon test by exercising them for 131 hours at a stretch, till 0900 hrs in this township today.
Sania, who hails from Khargone district's Bhikangaon, has been singing for about a decade and made headlines last month when she broke Indore-resident Akanksha's record by singing for 64 hours without a break.
However, Indore's Deepak Gupta later pipped Sania by singing for 101 hours but was himself vanquished by Jhabua's Mukesh Chandrawat -- 105 hours! All these talents received tremendous publicity but interestingly none of them was officially recognised.
Sania's marathon began at 2100 hrs on December 15 at the local Gandhi Bhawan premises. Earlier, Sania was publicised as an unmarried girl of 16.
Recently, Sania's 26-year-old husband Mohammad Arif wrote to the Superintendent of Police, Khandwa, seeking protection and alleged that his wife's real name was Yasmeen and he married the then 18-year-old on Janaury 11, 2002 at Bhikangaon. Sania subsequently returned to her father's place for personal reasons. Arif alleged that he was being threatened not to disclose that Sania was his wife.
''My age and marriage ought not to affect my achievements in singing. I am divorced,'' she claimed.
Regarding the absence of any official to witness her record, Sania said that she was not singing to create a record but to respond to Gupta's challenge.
Sania was examined yesterday by the district hospital's Civil Surgeon Panika, an Ear Nose Throat specialist, who advised the singer to stop immediately as she was suffering from infection.
Sania, who did not sleep for five nights, subsisted on milk, bread and Ayurvedic medicine.
