Five-month-old baby abandoned

Bathinda, Dec 21 (UNI) In yet another apparent case of gender injustice, a five-month-old girl was abandoned in a train here.

The girl draped in clothes, running fever, was found lying in a compartment of Rewari to Ganga Nagar train, standing at the platform here last night.

On hearing the news, the volunteers of local NGO, Sahara, rushed to the spot and shifted her to a local hospital for treatment.

Sahara has offered to adopt her and will ensure that she gets a good upbringing, the patron of the NGO, Vijay Goel said.

A case in this connection has been registered and efforts were on to trace her parents, Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Bhandari said.

Meanwhile, the NGO will be taking care of her, he added.
