Deve Gowda dissolves Kerala J D (S) unit
New Delhi, Dec 21 (UNI) Janata Dal (Secular) today dissolved its Kerala unit and appointed Mr Neelalohita Das Nadar as its chief in place of Mr M P Veerendra Kumar.
A decision to this effect was taken by J D (S) President and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda ahead of the party meeting at Thiruvanthapuram.
J D (S) Secretary General K Danish Ali said that the meeting convened by Mr Kumar was 'illegal' and claimed that the other group would not even get a quorum in the J D (S) Executive, a requisite to hold a meeting.
The Executive has a total strength of 55 members and three of its members -- Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, Mr Veerendra Kumar, P G R Sindhya have been suspended from the primary membership of the party.
He said Mr Nadar is a former MP and former Kerala Minister and he had been asked to reconstitute the state unit and get the approval of the J D (S) National Executive to be convened on December 25.
