Congress MLA lands in jail

Bettiah, Dec 21 (UNI) A local court today sent Congress MLA Khursheed Alam from Sikta to jail in connection with creating obstructions in discharge the duties by the governmenmt officers during Lok Sabha Election held in 1991.

First class judicial magistrate Ramesh Chandra Malivya sent Mr Alam to jail after he surrendered in the court. A Congress candidate from Bettiah in Bihar assembly elections held last year and a contractor Sonu Jha were also sent to jail in the case.

According to the FIR, the accused had forcibly taken away a car from the custody of officials of district administration of Siwan, which was earlier seized during Lok Sabha Election-1991.

They had also allegedly misbehaved with the officers concerned.

The bail petition filed by the accused in the case would be heard tomorrow.
