Cong leader attacks Gowda
Mysore, Dec 21 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and former Minister D K Shivakumar today termed as an insult to the Chamundeswari Assembly constituency electorate, JD(S) President and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda's statement that the bypoll result was insignificant.
Speaking to newspersons here, he demanded an apology from Mr Gowda and his son and Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy. He asked the JD(S) to take the byelection defeat in a sportive way and not give lame excuses.
Accusing the JD(S)-BJP Government of distributing freebies, money and liquor to woo the voters, Mr Shivakumar alleged that many development works had been started haphazardly in the constituency prior to the bypoll and executed in a sub-standard way. Payments for the works should be done only after a quality check, he added.
He denied reports that some Congress leaders worked against the party in the byelection and predicted a split in the JD(S) in the coming days.
