Compensation scheme for immigrant Bihari labourers

Patna, Dec 21 (UNI) Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi today announced that state government would soon implement a compensation scheme on accidental deaths for the immigrant Bihari labourers working elsewhere.

Official sources said here that Mr Modi announced the compensation scheme for the migrated labourers of the state during his speech in a conference of state labour ministers in New Delhi.

Mr Modi said that labourers killed during an accident while working outside state would be given Rs 1 lakh under the proposed scheme.

'' More than 50 lakh labourers from Bihar are engaged in various types of works work in different states of the country to earn their livelihood and this kind of compensation scheme was needed to safeguard their interests''he added.

An officer of deputy labour commissioner rank would be appointed in New Delhi, who would be responsible to safeguard the interest of migrated Bihari labourers working in different states including Delhi, Punjab, Rajsthan, Chandigarh, Rajsthan and Uttar Pradesh.
