ULFA may have joined hands with ISI:Pal

New Delhi, Dec 20 (UNI) United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) may have joined hands with Pakistan's ISI to engineer communal violence in Asom, All Assam Bengali Jubo Chatra Parishad (AABJCP) president Chitto Pal alleged today.

He said the banned outfit has threatened people from other states to leave Asom or they may be forced out. ''It seems that either ULFA has entered into some sort of pact or fall into the trap of the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan towards acheiving their long cherished dream of creating a greater Bangladesh comprising of Asom,'' he charged while talking to newspersons here.

Mr Pal, who is also the Vice Chairman of Asom Linguistic Minority Development Board (ALMDB), urged the Centre to take the threat ''very seriously'' as it may shatter the communal harmony in the Northeastern state.

He said the state as well as Central governments should ensure the safety of people from West Bengal, Bihar and Rajasthan, who have been specifically named in the threat.

The Centre should immediately step up the border management system and speed up the completion of the border fencing in that area to cut off the ''possible supply line'' from across the border, Mr Pal said.

The student leader said another most important issue would be the deportation of all those persons who entered the state after December 25, 1971 and this should be carried out in a proper legal manner so that the process may be completed without any hindrance.
