Tremor rocks Thrissur district

Thrissur, Kerala, Dec 20 (UNI) A tremor rocked the town and the surrounding areas this evening, damaging window panes and household equipment in some places.

However, no one was reported injured. The tremor lasted about eight seconds and was felt at about 1920 hours.

Details on the measurement on the Richter Scale and the epicentre were not available immediately.

District Collector M Beena said there was no cause for alarm.

The areas which felt the tremor included Thrissur town and surrounding towns in a 25 km radius including the temple town of Guruvayoor, Desamangalam, Vadakancherry, Varavoor and Mattom.
