TN stand on Mullaperiyar unfortunate: Kerala
Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 20 (UNI) Kerala today said it was unfortunate on the part of Tamil Nadu to make any unilateral move on the Mullaperiyar Dam issue and added it could scuttle efforts for finding an amicable solution to the long-pending dispute.
Reacting to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's statement that his Government would move the Supreme Court to find a solution, Kerala Water Resources Minister N K Premachandran told newspersons here that it was ''unfortunate'' and could hamper the centrally mediated efforts for finding an amicable solution to the dam issue.
Noting that the issue should be solved through discussions, he said Mr Karunanidhi's statement amounted to pulling out of the talks.
The Supreme Court had already suggested the two States to settle the issue through talks and it was in this context that the Centre convened two rounds of talks between the neighbours.
