South Indian Bank opens first branch in UP
Lucknow, Dec 20 (UNI) Kerala-based private sector South Indian Bank today opened its 460th branch here and proposed to open 15 more branches in the country by March 31, 2007.
This is the bank's first branch in Uttar Pradesh. Though, the bank has two branches in Ghaziabad and Noida, they are considered as part of its Delhi network.
''Lucknow is a growing market and we tend to capture some share in it,'' the bank Chairman V A Joseph said while talking to reporters here.
He said the bank proposes to open branches in Kanpur, Meerut, Allahabad and Varanasi in the coming years. ''In Lucknow too, we propose to open another branch in the next two years,'' he added.
The bank's 430 branches are already online and the rest would go online by the end of the fiscal.
