Reliance Mobile World offers Mahabharata on mobile

Mumbai, Dec 20 (UNI) Reliance subscribers across the country will be able to enjoy the content of B R Chopra's grand epic ''Mahabharata'' on their mobiles.

The facility was launched today by Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG)'s Reliance Mobile World in the presence of Ravi Chopra (producer and director of Mahabharata), Gufi Paintal (who has enacted the role of Shakuni Mama), Mukesh Khanna (Bhishma Pitamaha), Gajendra Chauhan (Yudhisthir), Rajjat Barjatiya of Rajshri.Com and Reliance Communications Application Solutions and Content Group president Mahesh Prasad.

''The serial is our life's labour literally. Mahabharata is a way of life. Its message is timeless and must continue with the new technology,'' Mr Chopra said while speaking on the occasion.

Gufi Paintal was equally ecstatic. ''To launch the serial on the mobile is like giving it a new lease of life,'' he remarked.

For Gajendra Chauhan, Mahabharta is a classic example of what not to do in life -- do not insult women, do not play dice, and above all do not forget the timeless ''geeta saar''.

''This launch is the need of the hour,'' Mukesh Khanna said.

''This has been a watershed year .... What with Gandhi coming to the common man in Munnabhai, or freedom fighters coming to us in 'Rang De Basanti' and a traditional film like ''Vivaah'' doing well. This has been a defining moment in the evolution of the media. We will make the Mahabharata come alive on the Reliance mobile,'' he added.

It is for the first time in the country that an epic is being streamed on a mobile phone.

In addition, Mahabharata content is also offered to all Reliance Mobile World-enabled phones. Reliance Mobile customers can access daily episodes, audio songs, video songs, wall papers, characters videos, special videos and ringtones. To watch mobisodes or hear the Geeta, the subscriber has to log on to Reliance Mobile World

Reliance Mobile World customer can download upto 157 video mobisodes and listen up to 471 minutes of programming of Mahabharata which is being made available on the Dial 1234 platform. Reliance Mobile subscribers have to dial 1234 and say ''Mahabharata'' to choose the Mahabharata voice pack at Rs 30 per month. They can also listen to the mobisode at Re 1 per minute.
