PR goes much beyond publicity: Rangarajan
Mumbai, Dec 20 (UNI) Chairman of Economic Advisory Council to Prime Minister, Dr C Rangarajan feels Public Relations (PR) goes much beyond publicity and seeks to strengthen the credibility of the organisation, enhance its image and develop goodwill, encompassing business, government as well as non-profit organisations.
He was speaking here today at a gathering of business leaders, marketing and communication professionals, banking and financial power houses and media, where a book on 'The Art of Public Relations', published by USP Age, the complete magazine for marketing communicaton professinals, was released.
Dr Rangarajan said public relations rightly understood and practiced was a win-win situation to both the orgnaisations and the community at large.
The 'Art of Public Relations' is a collection of the best of articles on public relations, authored by 51 top PR professionals, which appeared in USP Age over the last three years. This is a collection covering every aspect of Public Relations in wide varying situation.
'The Art of Public Relations' editor-publisher Mr C D Ramachandran said the book was different since it did not limit itself with single author's views, but by a galaxy of great PR practitioners in the field. Secondly, most of the PR books available were based on old schools of thought, all of which had dramatically changed over the last five years. ''A book of this nature is being published for the first time in India. It brings out the best in PR by the PR practitioners.'' he said.
