Pooja sets national shooting record
Indore, Dec 20 (UNI) Pooja Reddy of Indian (formerly Indian Airlines) set a national record today by scoring 573 points in the Junior Women's 50 m Rifle 3-Positions event at the 50th National Shooting Championship at the Border Security Force's Reoti Range here.
Pooja broke Rajkumari's record of 572 set in 2002.
The silver went to Manipur's N Saini Devi (563) while the INF's Sharda Thapa (559) took the bronze.
In the senior Women's category, the honours went to Maharashtra's Tejaswini Sawant (669.7), the Central Industrial Security Force's Kuheli Ganguly (666.7) and Indian's Reddy (664.9) respectively.
The team event honours were taken by the Railway (Anuja Jung, Suma Shiroor and Deepali Deshpande), Army (D V S Lakshmi Priya, Meena Kumari and Rajkumari) and Indian's Navdeep Kaur Dhillon, Reddy and Avneet Kaur Sidhu).
In the Junior Women's team event, the National Cadet Corps (Lajja Goswami, Lalita Dubey and Hema K C) emerged winners while Punjab's Ramandeep Sandhu, Deshu Tomar and Preeti Tomar were runners-up.
BSF's D K Pande, National Rifle Association of India National Coach Sunny Thomas and Judge Colonel Jaswant Singh presented the medals.
