Part time lecturers held

Chennai, Dec 20 (UNI) Police took into custody Members of the Tamil Nadu Government college part-time lecturers Welfare Association when they attempted to picket Directorate of Collegiate education here today.

Association President M D Rajkumar told newsmen before they courted arrest that they were demanding, among other things regularisation of jobs.

He said the DMK in its election manifesto promised that their services would be regularised. But the government failed tu fulfill the promise.

They called for applications for the post of college lecturers through Teachers Recruitment Board, without giving priority to them, he alleged.
