Orissa top cop to move NHRC on son's torture in Jaipur Jail

Bhubaneswar, Dec 20 (UNI) Orissa Director General Police(Home Guard and Fire services) B B Mohanty will move the National Human Rights Commission(NHRC) for mental treatment of his son, convicted for raping a German woman.

Mr Mohanty told newsmen here that his son Bitihotra, has been both mentally and physically tortured by the jail inmates inside the Jaipur Central jail and had lost his mental balance.

Quoting some of his son's friends, the senior Orissa police officer said Bitihotra was admitted in Durlav Singh Memorial Hospital and another hospital for treatment but expressed his ignorance about the the whereabouts of his son, who jumped the parole.

Bitihotra was convicted for raping a German woman at Alwar in Rajahsthan by a fast track court on April 12 and sentenced to seven years imprisonment. He was granted parole from November 20 to December 4 last to see his ailing mother and grand mother.

He, however, did not report to jail on expiry of his parole prompting the Jaipur jail authority to contact the Cuttack Superintendent of Police to trace him in Orissa.

Meanwhile, the Rajasthan government had suspended Jaipur Central Jail Superintendent Vishwesh Joshi following convict Bitihotra jumping the parole.

Bitrihota's father said his son is yet to turn up to see the ailing mother and grand mother in Cuttack and appealed to the NHRC that he should be treated in a good hospital and shifted to Orissa jail.
