Norms on re-employing retrenched Haryana employees eased
Chandigarh, Dec 20 (UNI) The Haryana cabinet today approved the state government's decision to relax its policy to re-employ 177 employees retrenched by the previous Chautala government who could not be adjusted so far.
These 177 employees were under matric and working against group 'C' posts, but could not be adjusted against group 'C' posts for being under matric.
The Cabinet gave its ex-post facto approval to the recommendations of the Oversight Committee that adjustment of these retrenched employees be made against vacancies in 'D' category.
These employees were working against various posts of group 'C' like tubewell operator, fitter, expert weaver and moulder.
The Cabinet also observed that the number of such retrenched employees might increase from 177 as more references might be received in this regard from various departments, boards and corporations of the state government.
The Council of Ministers had in June this year approved a policy to adjust within six months those regular employees of group 'C' and 'D', who were retrenched from March 1, 2000 to March 1, 2005.
It was observed in the cabinet meeting today that the Chief Minister had already announced to extend this policy to group 'A' and 'B' retrenched employees.
He also announced to grant Rs 2.5 lakh to the family of a retrenched employee, who might have died after retrenchement and who would otherwise have been eligible for adjustment on May 18, 2006, the date of application of the present policy of adjustment of retrenched employee.
It was also announced to provide a compensation of Rs one lakh each to those retrenched employees who were over 55 years of age and less than 58 years as on May 18, 2006.
