Missing gold coin case handed over to CB-CID

Tirupati, Dec 20 (UNI) Even as police have arrested Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam(TTD) Shroff and in-charge of gold coin sales counter at Tirumala in connection with a case involving the missing of 300 gold coins, the TTD has handed over the case to the CB-CID.

The Shroff, Mr Venkatachalapathi, reportedly confessed to the theft and manipulation of records.

The police recovered four coins from him and a local court remanded him to 15 days custody on December 14 .

However, bowing to pressure from various poltical parties and public representatives on poor security procedures which led to the commission of the crime, the CB-CID had been entrusted with the case, a TTD official told the UNI on the condition of anonymity.
