Le Mans stun Sochaux to reach League Cup semi-finals

PARIS, Dec 20 (Reuters)- Le Mans scored two goals in two minutes early in the second half to stun Sochaux 2-1 and qualify for the French League Cup semi-finals today.

Striker Mamadou Samassa headed home from close range to put the visitors in front after 49 minutes and Brazilian midfielder Grafite found the net from 18 metres in the 51st.

The hosts pulled a goal back through midfielder Mickael Isabey who bent the ball into the net 15 minutes from time.

The defeat was a big setback for Sochaux who hoped to win the competition and secure a UEFA Cup place for next season.

Le Mans will face the winners of the tie between French champions Olympique Lyon and Cup holders Nancy, who meet at the Gerland Stadium later today.

Yesterday, Girondins Bordeaux beat St Etienne 1-0 at home thanks to an extra-time penalty by substitute Fernando.
