K'taka Govt to honour ryots

Bangalore, Dec 20 (UNI) The Karnataka Government today announced the State agriculture awards for 2005-06 in two categories -- Krishi Pandit and Krishi awards -- to 15 ryots for optimum use of water, better yield and excellence in organic farming and adopting new technologies.

Informing this to reporters here, Agriculture Minister Bandeppa Kashempur said Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy would present seven Krishi awards and eight Krishi Pandit awards on December 23 in the city when Farmer's day would be observed for the first time.

The Krishi awardees were Messrs H L Sekharappa of Chikmagalur district, Topaiah Dinne of Bangalore Urban district, H S Annegowda of Hassan district, Mallappa Jhulki of Bagalkot district, Parmesh Chennashetti of Hassan district, Hussen Peer Khajahusen of Koppal distict and Sheshappa Biradar of Bidar district.

Those who bagged the Krishi Pandit awards were Messrs Channabasappa Kombli of Haveri district, Somashekharappa Chapparahalli of Haveri district, Abhay Desai of Belgaum district, Pramila and N S Yettinamani of Bellary district, Gadagayya Hiremath of Bijapur district, Suresh Desai of Belgaum district and Krishnappa Bilakeri of Bagalkot district.

Mr Kashempur said farmer's day would be observed at the taluk level also and as many as 173 farmers would be honoured on the occasion.
