Jharkhand take two points in drawn match vs Services
Jamshedpur, Dec 20 (UNI) Jharkhand missed an opportunity to bowl out Services for an outright victory due to poor fielding and lack of killer instinct as the visitors fought back to score 280 for six in the drawn match on the final day of the four-day Ranji trophy plate group B tie at Keenan stadium here today.
With this drawn match, Jharkhand opened their accounts in this season with two points, after having lost to Himachal Pradesh and Jammu&Kashmir and drawn against Orissa. The hosts will play the last match against Tripura in Agartala.
Services resumed at overnight 101/3 but Jhakrhand began the day a promising note dismissing overnight batsman Jasvir Sigh (64) without adding to his score as Shahid Khan struck early. But first innings' centurion Yashpal Singh (overnight not out 0) again rescued his side with a dogged 49 along with S Upadhyay, who remained not out on 60. The duo put valuable 70 runs for the fifth wicket stand to frustrate the hosts.
Upadhyay again added another 60 runs with K K G Chawada (34) for the sixth wicket partnership to thwart all hopes of Jharkhand. A K Mohanty remained not out on 24 with Upadhyay when the umpires called off play.
For Jharkhand, Sumit Panda took two wickets for 17 while Mihir Diwakar, Shahid Khan and S Nadeem took one wicket each.
