J'adore to launch retail store in Chennai

Chennai, Dec 20 (UNI) The Singapore-based foot wear designer J'adore is launching a retail store here, its first ever initiative in the Indian market, with an initial investment of Rs 10 crore.

Company's Director J S R Nalgin Bacchus told newspersons that they would offer an exclusive range of designer women's footwear in a vibrant choice of leathers. He said they were in the retail market for the past four years and the one in Chennai would be the second such in the world.

The company has chosen Chennai as its means to enter the Indian market as the purchase-capacity of the people here would appreciate this range of footwear, he added.

To a question, he said they expected a turnover of three million U S Dollar in the first year from the new venture. He also pointed out that J'adore is certified under the "VERO CUCIO" certification for genuine leather.

These shoes are priced at a range starting from Rs 1700 to Rs 5500. They plan to open two more outlets in Chennai and another in Bangalore within a year, he added.

Company's Designer Director Fionakee said their manufacturing units in Brazil and China had a total capacity of 5000 shoes per month.

Some of the J'adore shoes are hand crafted and to maintain the exclusivity of the collections, it produces only 12 to 15 pairs of each design.

A variety of leathers-- snake, crocodile, chameleon, calf, lamp and patent leather is used and hair of zebra and horse are incorporated into a few designs. The designs are categorised into four types-- casual, evening, professional and exquisite.
