Hyderabad crush Mumbai in Ranji trophy
Hyderabad, Dec 21 (UNI) Hosts Hyderabad scored a crushing nine wicket victory over 36-times champions Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy Elite Group-B match being played at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium here today.
With four points from their fourth match, Hyderabad took their tally to eight points while Mumbai were left at rock bottom with zero points.
Two-time champions Hyderabad were set a small target of 30 runs after dismissing visitors for 268 in 122.1 overs shortly after tea on the last day today. Losing opener Raviteja's wicket, Hyderabad made 33 runs in 8.2 overs to seal the fate of visitors.
Earlier, Mumbai continuing with the overnight score of 108/3 lost the fourth wicket of Vinayak name to left-arm medium pacer Pragyan Ojha. Mane stayed for more than five hours and made a patient 48 off 235 balls with three boundaries. He added 97 valuable runs for fourth wicket in 52 overs with Rohit Sharma.
Later, Rohit added 38 runs for the fifth and sixth wickets in the company of NS Shetty and Ramesh Powar. Rohit was unlucky to miss his maiden century as he was caught plumb in front off medium pacer Kaushik Reddy after making 95 off 195 deliveries that included eleven hits to the fence. Later, Mumbai tail could not resist Hyderabadi onward march. Medium pacer Absolem and left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha were the successful bowlers for Hyderabad, picking four Mumbai wickets each.
