HC revokes suspension of judges

Chennai, Dec 20 (UNI) The Madras High Court today revoked its earlier order suspending Tirunelveli Principal District Judge, K Naganathan and Judicial Magistrate-IV G Nagaraj from service.

Based on a police report, the two judicial officers were suspended from service by an order dated December 13. A committee was constituted by Chief Justice A P Shah to probe into the incidents that took place on December 8 midnight, involving the two judicial officers.

The committee, comprising Mr Justice Dharma Rao Elipie and Mr Justice M Thanickachallam, went to Tirunelveli and conducted an enquiry on December 18 and submitted its report yesterday. The Committee report gave a clean chit to the two judicial officers against the charge of drunkness and misbehaviour.

According to the Chairman of Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry R K Chandra Mohen, President of Madras High Court Advocates Association Paul Kanagaraj, President of Women Lawyers Association Sasee Devi, the Chief Justice after satisfying himself about the committee's report, decided to revoke the suspension order. While Mr Naganathan will be transferred following a specific request from him to this effect, Mr Nagaraj will continue to work in the same place, they added.
