HC permits Chennai Corporation to go ahead with its decision
Chennai, Dec 20 (UNI) Madras High Court has permitted the Chennai Corporation to implement its decision to demolish a temple with compound wall and to remove a neem tree situated in the city.
A division bench comprising Mr Justice P Sathasivam and Mr Justice S Tamilvanan gave the above permission while dismissing a petition from E Raju of Chennai, seeking a direction to the authorities concerned not to demolish the Amman Temple and removing the neem tree situated on Ayavu Street in Jafferkhanpet, Ashok Nagar, maintained by him, adjacement to his property.
In its order, the bench said ''we are of the firm view that the tree and the surrounded wall including the temple have to be removed in the interest of general public and free flow of traffic. The Tashildar, Mambalam-Guindy, Chennai District Collector and Chennai Corporation are free to take necessary assistance from the police concernced for the demolition'', the bench added.
