Gujarat practice batting, Bilakhia notch up a century
Kolkata, Dec 20 (UNI) Azharuddin Bilakhia ground out a maiden first class century as Gujarat confidently batted out the final day reaching 302 for four wickets to secure two points against Bengal here today.
Having already been assured first-innings points, Gujarat concentrated on batting out time with all their top-order gaining batting practice.
The match began 30 minutes late due to mist and was called off an hour early as it headed for a tame draw with Gujarat frimly oin the driver's seat.
Bilakhia dropped anchor, striking 15 fours in his 303-ball effort, that got him 122 runs before being run out by Dhinda.
Bhavik Thaker weighed in with a stroke-filled 61. The two Patels - Niraj and Parthiv - chipped in with 41 and 35 respectively.
With this result Gujarat, who had just two points from their first three games, doubled their tally.
Bengal tasted their first defeat of the trophy as they began regrouping for their next outing.
