GOC-IN-C Eastern Command on a two-day visit to Gajraj Corps
Guwahati, Dec 20 (UNI) GOC-in-C-Eastern Command Lt Gen Arvind Sharma, accompanied by his wife Ira Sharma, arrived at Tezpur today on a two-day visit to Gajraj Corps.
Defence sources informed here that the Army Commander reviewed the current security scenario in the state and Arunachal Pradesh.
He had a detailed interaction with GOC Gajraj Corps, who briefed him on the various operational, administrative and welfare activities. The Army Commander addressed all the officers at the Gajraj Auditorium.
Earlier on arrival at Gajraj Corp at Tezpur, they were received by Lt Gen RK Chhabra, VSM, GOC Gajraj Corps and President AWWA Gajraj Corps Neeru Chhabra.
During the visit, the GOC-in-C inaugurated the Main Building of 155 Base Hospital and laid the foundation stone of the new building for Army School.
President of AWWA Eastern Command Ira Sharma inaugurated the Gajraj Integrated Sports Complex near Mission Chariali. It consists of a swimming pool, a modern gymnasium, tennis courts, squash court and a children's park.
The Army Commander, who would retire on Dec 31, 2006, also bid farewell to the Corps Zone, sources added.
