Gas pipeline works to be completed by 2008
Agartala, Dec 20 (UNI) Tripura government will provide cooking gas through pipeline within the municipal areas of the capital city by 2008.
State Industry and Commerce Minister Tapan Chakraborty, in a written reply to opposition Congress leader Ratan Lal Nath and Prakash Das in the state assembly, said the works for providing cooking gas connection within the capital city through pipeline were expected to be completed by 2008 and all steps in this regard has already been initiated.
The plan for supplying cooking gas through pipeline have started from 1993 and all such connections were provided to 6,335 houses of the capital city.
Transport Minister Manik Dey, in another reply, said the state government had taken efforts to run auto rickshaw with the help of CNG. Efforts were also taken to run 50 CNG minibuses under the control of TRTC.
A number of autorickshaws had started plying in this capital city since last few days on trial basis and works for the filling station's work at A D Nagar in the capital city have almost been completed, officials said and added that the date for running of vehicles with CNG officially was yet to finalised.
After introduction of this system in the capital, steps would be taken to start the process in other two major towns of the state including South district headquarters of Udaipur and Dhamanagar in North districts respectively.
With the introduction of this CNG system in the vehicle, expenditure of fuel would also be comparatively less than other fuel and it would not be harmful for environment as there would not be any smoke, sources added.
