Four women killed in road mishap

Perambalur, Tamil Nadu Dec 20 (UNI) Four women were killed and five seriously injured when an autorickshaw in which they were travelling collided head-on with a state transport corporation bus at Thuraimangalam village on the Tiruchirapalli-Chennai national highway today.

Police said the driver of the autorickshaw proceeding to Perambalur from Agaram village, while attempting to overtake a lorry collided with the Tiruchirapalli-bound bus.

While Manickmmal(42) and her daughter Tamilselvi (18) died on the spot, Dhanalakshmi (38) and Nadiya (27), two of the five injured succumbed to injuries at the Government Headquarters hospital here.

The condition of three injured were stated to be critical, police said.
