Criminal escapes after conviction

Hoshangabad (MP), Dec 20 (UNI) A criminal escaped from the court after attacking the police immediately after he and two others were convicted in a loot case by Itarsi's Judicial Magistrate Prayaglal Dinkar yesterday.

Police said Sunil alias Sunny, Vishwanath and Parikshit were sentenced to three years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2000 each for looting Rs 20,000 from a retired railway employee Ramesh Chandra Sarathe at Itarsi on January 10 last year.

After the judge pronouced their conviction, the trio attempted to escape with Sunny slapping Constable Brajbhushan Pande. In the melee, Parikshit and Vishwanath fled the spot, but Parikshit was immediately overpowered.

The court also issued a warrant for arresting Vishwanath, while police registered a case against Sunny for assaulting government servant on duty.
