Court rejects bail of former MLA
Patna, Dec 20 (UNI) The Patna High Court today rejected the bail petition of former legislator Rajan Tiwari, a suspect in the murder of CPI(M) leader Ajit Sarkar.
Justice Navin Sinha turned down the bail application saying the trial in the case was on.
The counsel of Tiwari had pleaded that his client was behind the bars for the past eight years and now he should be released on bail.
Opposing the application, the CBI investigating the murder said the trial might be tampered with if the accused was released from judicial custody.
It is for the fourth time the court had rejected the bail of Tiwari.
Mr Sarkar was shot dead on June 14, 1998 when he was returning after attending a meeting at Purnea.
