Corruption deep-rooted in Arunachal: BJP

Itanagar, Dec 20(UNI) The BJP in Arunachal Pradesh today charged the Gegong Apang-led Congress government for indulging in large scale corruption at the cost of public money.

Addressing mediapersons here this morning, BJP state president Tapen Siga, while referring to a public interest litigation filed in the Gauhati High Court against state PWD and Urban Development Minister Nabam Tuki by one Nabam Tagam for alleged corruption, stated that such matter was of serious magnitude and the state government should initiate appropriate measures on it.

''We are demanding his resignation so that the CBI could be given a free hand while investigating the matter as directed by the High Court, he informed and alleged that if he(Tuki) would remain in the post, all the evidences would be tempered.

When his attention was drawn that the concerned minister who had claimed that he was ready to face any investigation, Mr Siga categorically said that if he was not involved in the matter, he should resign to facilitate CBI for an impartial inquiry.

''The BJP has time and again raised its voice against the wrong doings of the government but without yielding any positive response from the latter,'' he pointed out and demanded the state government to make a clear-cut statement on the Apex Bank scam and illegal appointments on various departments.

Stating that the controversial Donyi Polo Vidya Bhawan Raffle issue died an unnatural death, the BJP chief while appreciating the findings of the one-man committee constituted by the state government for inquiry into the matter, said the report was misinterpreted in the floor of the assembly and the issue was closed for ever.

''We are not going to accept the decision and would continue to raise our voice against the government's evil design to loot the people through such lottery'', he said and reiterated that the draw of the raffle was pre-planned and done without observing the rules.
