CHO arrested on graft charge

Tiruchirapalli, Dec 20 (UNI) Sleuths of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption(DVAC) wing of the police arrested the Chief Health Officer(CHO), attached to the Tiruchirapalli City Corporation on graft charges, here this evening.

DVAC sources said, the CHO S, Elangovan demanded a bribe amount of Rs 10,000 from a Contractor, Arockiaraj for doing an official favour.

Acting on a complaint from Mr Arockiaraj, the DVAC sleuths laid a trap and caught red-handed the corrupt official, while bribe accepting the bribe in his office.

An investigation was underway, police added.
