Cent percent placement for GIM students in Goa
Panaji, Dec 20 (UNI) As a feather in its cap for imparting quality education, all 116 students of the prestigious Goa Institute of Management (GIM) here got cent per cent placements with 31 companies with a maiden salary offer of Rs 6.5 lakh per annum.
Disclosing this to media persons here today, GIM Director Peter F X D Lima and placement coordinator A S Gupta said 193 offers were made to the students with the IT sector being the largest recruiter.
Infosys Technologies, Cognizant Technology Solutions and IBM made 25, 24 and 11 offers respectively, making them the largest recruiters.
Some of the first time recruiters this year, included Accenture, Deloitte, Idea Cellular, HP, HSBC Bank, Hutch, Madura Garments and Tata Motors.
''The average salary showed an increase of 22.13 per cent to Rs 6.41 lakh per annum this year as against Rs 5.24 lakh last year.
The highest annual salary offered was Rs 9 lakh as against Rs 8 lakh in the previous year,'' said recruiters in a statement.
Some of the interesting new profiles offered were creditrisk management, bond and derivative modelling, web marketing and supply chain management counselling besides usual sales marketing, relationship management and equity research profiles.
Kotak Securities International offered a foreign placement with the opening of their operations in Dubai shortly.
With this encouraging outcome, the management of the institute was thinking of focussing teaching in non-traditional areas like manufacture and automative components sectors with demand on rise particularly in China.
''Ranked number 14 among the top management institutes in the country, we are embarking on a high trajectory path by strengthening infrastructure and improving teaching methods'', said the statement.
''We have been engaging the cream of visiting faculty members including those from Germany and Portugal on diversified subjects like telecom regulations'', said the statement.
''Interestingly, the recruitment for summer internships was also on at full stream with bigger concerns such as Yahoo and Deloitte offering posts with stipends as high as Rs 45,000 per month'', the statement added.
