Pratapgarh, UP, Dec 20 (UNI) Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) legislature party leader Swami Prasad Maurya today surrendred before a local court in a 1995 case.

He was later let off on a personal bond.

Maurya surrendred before the court of chief judicial magistrate Rajbahadur Singh Maurya after non-bailable warrants were issued against him.

The court has posted the matter to January 11, 2007.

In 1995, Maurya along with his supporters had blocked a road in Dalerganj area of Kunda to protest a kidnapping. A criminal case was registered against 17 people, including Maurya.

While most of the accused had sought bail following warrants, Maurya had failed to do so.
