BPCL, IHF Development enter quarters

Chennai, Dec 20 (UNI) Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) entered the quarter finals, along with IHF Development XI, topping pool-A with a 3-2 win against Mumbai XI in the 83rd All India FCC Murugappa Gold Cup Hockey Tournament here today.

BPCL, who defeated IHF in the opening match, dominated through out the match going into the lead in the seventh minute of the first half through Hariprasad.

Latching on to a pass from the right flank, Prasad surged ahead to score the first good. BPCL, who led 1-0 at half time increased the lead with former international Amar Aiyamma scoring two goals in a row.

Mumbai XI staged a fight back but it was too late. Jasdev Singh scored a brace in tandem in the 64th and 69th minute to reduce the margin.

However, the effort went in vain as Mumbai XI bowed out having suffered two defeats. They were defeated by the IHF team in their earlier outing.
