BJP MLA threatens fast unto death
New Delhi, Dec 19 (UNI) BJP MLA Karan Singh Tanwar today threatened a fast unto death unless Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit solved the water problems in Delhi Cantonment within fifteen days.
Speaking to newspersons here, Mr Tanwar said he had been left with no choice but to resort to the method adopted by Trinamool leader Mamta Banerjee.
''I can't stand my people living without water. Being a representative, I feel called upon to do whatever it takes to restore the water supply,'' he said.
The BJP MLA expressed anguish over, what he called, deliberate attempt by the Delhi government to keep the taps dry in Delhi cantonment.
According to him, the reason is political. The government wants to avenge its electoral defeat in the last assembly election, he added. Mr Tanwar claimed to have sought the Chief Minister's intervention several times and even got some assurances.
''But the assurances have never gone further than her nose,'' he claimed alleging that Sheila Dikshit forgot the words as soon as she spoke. Furnishing two letters by Cantonment Executive Officer to Delhi Jal Board, the BJP leader regretted that his desperate pleas had fallen on deaf ears.
